Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. The virus spreads through direct contact and through contaminated surfaces, especially wet public areas like pool decks, showers, and locker rooms.

Sometimes, about 30% of warts resolve spontaneously within 2 years, especially in children. Adults are less likely to clear warts without treatment, and spreading to other areas is common while waiting for spontaneous resolution.

Plantar warts on weight-bearing areas get pushed inward with each step, creating a mass of thickened tissue over a deep, concentrated area, essentially like walking on a pebble. Warts on non-weight-bearing areas are usually much less painful.

Warts typically have small black dots (tiny clotted blood vessels) visible when the surface skin is pared down. They tend to be painful with side-to-side pinching.

Surgical removal (curettage) is an option for large, resistant warts. It involves local anesthesia and leaves a healing wound for 2–3 weeks.
