You’re Not Alone, and You Have Options

Laser treatment is completely non-surgical, involves no medications with systemic side effects, and has no downtime.

Medical laser therapy has quietly become one of the most useful tools in podiatry. It doesn’t hurt, it doesn’t require medications that damage the liver, and it doesn’t keep you off your feet. At Ironworks, we use laser therapy for three main conditions, toenail fungus, plantar warts, and chronic inflammatio

Toenail fungus (onychomycosis)

Oral antifungal medication works but requires months of pills and liver monitoring. Topical polishes are slow and unreliable. Laser treatment targets the fungus directly through the nail, session by session, with no medication and no downtime. Most patients see clearing over 6–12 months as the new nail grows in.

Plantar warts

Stubborn plantar warts that haven’t responded to freezing, salicylic acid, or immune therapy often clear within 2–3 laser sessions.

Chronic tendon and nerve pain

Low-level laser therapy reduces inflammation and stimulates tissue repair in conditions like Achilles tendonitis, plantar fasciitis, and early neuropathy.

What to Expect at Your First Visit

Your first laser visit begins with a diagnosis, because not every thick nail is fungal and not every callus is a wart. We confirm what we’re treating before recommending laser therapy.

Plan on 30 to 45 minutes for the first visit. Each follow-up laser session is typically 15 to 20 minutes.

Brief exam and often a small nail or skin sample for confirmation

Review of your history with previous treatments

Discussion of laser, topical, and oral treatment options

If you choose laser and you're ready to start: the first treatment session can be done the same day

Scheduling of follow-up sessions and a clear timeline for expected results

Frequently Asked Questions

For toenail fungus, most patients complete 3–4 sessions spaced a few weeks apart, though full nail clearing takes months as the healthy nail grows out. Warts typically need 2–3 sessions.

Most insurance plans do not cover laser treatment for toenail fungus, as it’s considered elective. Coverage for other conditions varies by plan and diagnosis

For warts, results are often visible within a few weeks. For toenail fungus, visible improvement takes 3–6 months because it depends on new healthy nail growing in.

Yes, for most patients. Oral antifungals require liver function monitoring and aren’t safe for everyone, especially those with liver conditions or taking certain medications.
