You’re Not Alone, and You Have Options

Surgery is almost never our first recommendation.

Surgery is never the first option, at Ironworks, it’s usually the last. We exhaust every conservative treatment first: orthotics, injections, shockwave, PRP, physical therapy, shoe changes, and time. But when structural damage or chronic pain can’t be fixed any other way, foot and ankle surgery can be transformative.

Our surgeons are board-certified by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery and perform procedures in both hospital and ambulatory surgery center settings. Many procedures are now available as minimally invasive, smaller incisions, less scarring, and a faster return to your normal life.

Surgeries we perform

Bunion correction (traditional and minimally invasive)

Hammertoe correction

Achilles tendon repair

Ankle ligament reconstruction

Morton's neuroma removal

Frequently Asked Questions

It depends entirely on the procedure. Minor soft-tissue surgery may have you back in a regular shoe in 2–3 weeks, while bony reconstruction or fusion procedures can require 6–12 weeks in a boot or cast.

Not always. Many foot and ankle surgeries are performed under regional (ankle block) or local anesthesia with light sedation.

Depending on the procedure, surgery is performed either at a local ambulatory surgery center or at a partnering hospital where our surgeons hold privileges. Most procedures are outpatient, you go home the same day.

No driving while you’re in a cast or boot on your right foot, on narcotic pain medication, or weight-bearing restricted. Most patients who had surgery on the right foot can’t drive for 4–8 weeks; left-foot surgery patients typically return to driving much sooner if they drive an automatic.

You probably don’t, at least not yet. We exhaust every conservative treatment first and only recommend surgery when it offers a clear benefit over continued non-surgical care.
